Becoming the United States
After the French and Indian war, England was unhappy with the Colonies, and the people of the colonies were unhappy with the added taxes, Acts and soliders in their homes from England. The colonists began securing their independence from Great Britain with the Battle of Lexington and Concird. Calling themselves the United States of America, these people wrote a Declaration of Independence, defied the authority of their mother country, and ended up winning a war to protect that independence. The Revolution certainly ended with the victory in the Revolutionary War; however, the Revolution began long before that, maybe even with the settlement in America (far away from England) of people who wanted to govern themselves and who wanted to have a direct say in the way they were governed.

A WEEKLY Note from Mrs. Grabarz
As we enter Winter Weather, please make sure to send home the Emergency Closing Form with your child. This enables us to help know how to send them home in case of an emergency closing.
Thank you for sending in all the cans for our Food Drive! West Woods really cares for our less fortunate neighbors!!
Please make sure your child has a healthful snack, like fruit, crackers and cheese or a granola bar. We do not eat until almost 1 PM, so they get very hungry during our morning together. A water bottle would also be wonderful! Please do not send in colorful drinks (like Gatorade) as they stain the carpet when spilled!
