I Wonder If She’d Like Me
by Eric Ode
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder if she’d like me if I stood a little taller.
I wonder if she’d like me if my ears were only smaller.
Or maybe if I brushed my hair and gave her a red rose,
or if I changed my underwear and didn’t pick my nose.
Perhaps if I could ride a mule. Perhaps if I could dance.
Perhaps if I could come to school in polka-dotted pants.
Perhaps if I would shine my shoes and even wear a tie,
or if I wrestled kangaroos or sang a lullaby.
Or maybe if I built a ship and sailed the seven seas
with nothing but a paper clip and tubs of cottage cheese.
I wonder if she’d like me for the reasons I have listed.
I wonder if she’d like me if she knew that I existed.

A WEEKLY Note from Mrs. Grabarz
As we enter Winter Weather, please make sure to send home the Emergency Closing Form with your child. This enables us to help know how to send them home in case of an emergency closing.
Thank you for sending in all the cans for our Food Drive! West Woods really cares for our less fortunate neighbors!!
Please make sure your child has a healthful snack, like fruit, crackers and cheese or a granola bar. We do not eat until almost 1 PM, so they get very hungry during our morning together. A water bottle would also be wonderful! Please do not send in colorful drinks (like Gatorade) as they stain the carpet when spilled!

I thought that the poem was really sad but I thought that the author did a very nice job with the details. I feel really bad for the person because he/she is going though live without being noticed.
your friend,
Lia
